My DD and I will be attending the January I2E event. Does anyone have any insight on the requirements / stats for receiving a “faculty” scholarship? (I know she will get a $2K scholarship for attending, but it’ll cost us about that amount to attend).
Also, it’ll be our first visit to Baylor (we live on the east coast, and will be coming in a day early to tour the area … and may also visit TCU where she has applied (and is waiting on a decision)); so does anyone has recommendations on any places we should visit (or restaurants, etc.) around Waco and/or Ft. Worth?

If in Waco try Torchy’s Tacos!

Re: the Faculty Scholarship; I think they only award a few (single digits or less); it depends on how many full tuition scholarships they award under the NMF program, I think. However, the I2E event is great, really give you a sense of Baylor and the Baylor community.
In Ft Worth we had an excellent meal at “Lonesome Dove” in the Stockyards. If you haven’t been down there it is really interesting and worth a look. Ft Worth is fun. In Waco I loved La Taqueria Crucera. A real dive with great Mexican food. Twisted Root is an interesting Burger Place.
My son and I will be attending in January also. Is anyone else planning to attend. Is it appropriate to greet others from here in person? @goblue1972 may I inquire which east coast state? We are from Arkansas.(I grew up in NJ)
Hi! I have toured Baylor a few times (we live in DFW) and I will be at the January I2E event. I know a lot of people like to explore Magnolia (from Chip & Joanna Gaines - HGTV) when they visit Waco. Based on previous events that I have attended, I imagine that they will provide lunch for families. In Fort Worth, the Stockyards are a major attraction. I would save an afternoon for this. University Park, near TCU has some awesome shopping areas and there’s no doubt you’ll find some super cool dining spots down there. Also, if you’d wanna meet up or something let me know! I have the link to the January event group message.
@ratsnotmice Sorry for my delayed reply … we are from Maryland (the DC suburbs). Thanks for the info @Arkwhaler and @queennadia01! I’ll look into those places, though I’m not sure how much “free” time we’ll have. My DD was recently accepted into TCU as well, so we’re doing a 2-for-1 visit that weekend. We’re planning to stay in Ft. Worth - in the Stockyards area near a place called “BillyBobs” that a friend recommended. We’ll tour TCU on Friday, and then drive down to Waco for the Baylor I2E Friday night / Saturday events. I have Magnolia, La Taqueria Crucera, and Twisted Root on the list as options for Saturday night. Thanks again, and hope to see you all in January!
