Invitations to Honors Program

I just received my acceptance letter in the mail. I know that UGA sends out a certain number of invitations to join the honors program without filling out an app, and I'm hoping to get one of those. If I did not receive a letter in this package does this mean that I was not automatically accepted into Honors? How could I find out about this?

same here! and what about selecting dorm if you don’t know about honors? (IF you wanted to live in honors dorm)

As I understand, some invitations to the Honors Program were mailed separate from the acceptance letter - from what I’ve heard, those Honors invites were sent roughly between December and February last year.

I plan to call UGA on Monday to find out more details about Honors so I’ll post that conversation as well. As far as housing is concerned, I think it’s possible to select the Honors dorm (Myers) without actually knowing whether you’re accepted into Honors because Myers isn’t exclusively Honors students. Acceptance to Honors boosts one’s chances of getting a spot in Myers, however.

that would be wonderful, Jablalf! thanks so much.

I have been to an honors program info session at UGA and they said that they take a top percentage of the people accepted EA and invite them to the honors program. These letters are sent separately from your EA acceptance around December 23.

Yes, they said at Scholar Visitation Day that the top 2% of admitted students are automatically invited to join the Honors Program. A pretty select group! Do you have the honors stats for this year from the UGA “Quick Facts” info sheet?

Called Honors program today and they confirmed what jcquinn posted in #5. Auto admits are just based on super high scores and GPA.

don’t they also factor in rigor of schedule?

just wondering, because I’m at 35 ACT and 4.0 UW GPA, 4.52 W GPA @ uga, but I’m only graduating with 8 AP’s. which is smaller than the Honors average…

so our letters should be arriving some time around tomorrow. unless they already came and i wasn’t part of the select few who got them. has anyone happened to receive theirs cause i’m worried that maybe they already came and i just wasn’t invited.

I’m also waiting for the letter. Anybody else receive one yet; I should at least qualify with a 1420.

Yeah, I’m waiting for the letter too. I got the information packet about the program, but I’m not sure what that means (??) because that’s most likely not the invitation itself.

Thursday morning in Atlanta. No Honors Program letter yet. Maybe in today’s mail!?

When I received a letter today from UGA, I was expecting an invite to the Honors program - instead, got a Charter Scholarship! Does anyone know if there’s any connection between Charter and the Honors program? Or should I expect another letter to arrive soon with the Honors invite?

The invitations for the honors program have been sent out in the mail. I got mine today. The honors program invitation appears to be a separate.

got my honors invitation today!

For EA applicants, does charter scholarship come with the honors invitation packet? or seperately? (I guess it comes seperate according to jablaf??) I got my honors invitation packet today but not a charter scholarship. ): Some of my friends already got charter. I’m starting to get sadddd.

jablalf, yes charter and honors is different. charters is just a scholarship. but that’s weird because charters is harder than honors. xD you should get honors quite soon.

Honors and Charter arrive in different envelopes. I can confirm, as I got both. (From metro Atlanta.)

Got my honors invite today.

Question, if the automatic enrollment is only for a select few then do the select few receive more than the (single) letter in their honors packets?

For those who got the Charter scholarship - would you mind posting stats and state of residency? Also, if out of state, did you get the Regents waiver?

thank you haavin. what are you stats? today was christmas so no mailman came by. i hope to get one tomorrow. cross fingers
are you a foundation applicant?

!!! i just found out that if you get charter, that means you got cut to the FF interview weekend. It is given to any student they feel would be an integral part of the Honors Program but isn’t quite FF level OR it is often given to the 3rd-ranked student the Honors Program would invite to interview weekend but didn’t

i may be wrong but this is what a foundation fellow told me…
