Iowa State

How is the social life at Iowa State? Any reviews? Is Iowa State a good school?

Not much of social life depends how you see it. Many outdoor activities, but not so much in clubbing. Every school provides good education, but how you take it depends on it. I have a friend currently doing accounting in ISU and will be graduating end of the year. She has many internships like Ernst & Young, PWC, KPMG, Deloitte and Aegeon. She has also been offered an official job in Ernst & Young after her masters which she will be taking it in 2011.

Hope this helps.

The state’s party school is probably U of I, if that’s what you’re asking. With over 28,000 students at ISU, it’s hard to imagine there isn’t something there for you socially, though.

Good school? Sure. Iowa’s Us are set up to avoid some duplication. So, you don’t find nursing (for example) at ISU; that’s at U of I along with lots of other medical stuff. At ISU, you find agriculture (hey, it’s Iowa), family and consumer sciences (food tech stuff - again, Iowa’s where it grows), and animal sciences (the vet school is there). The engineering program is very good at ISU as well. Of course, there are all sorts of general majors. What are you interested in?

Our D is a freshman at Iowa State and loves it! She is a Comp Sci major and is involved in the Honors College, WiSE, SALT, and many other EC’s. She has something going on almost every night. She has found that there is so much to do and has become excellent at managing her time. As for whether Iowa State is a good school, a resounding YES! Our D has had the best support one would want navigating the college experience. The opportunities are tremendous. Our D was hired for a job this semester and had many offers for summer internships through their fantastic career fair. We’re from OOS and think she made a wonderful choice.
