Iowa Young Writers' Studio

I've finished my application (finally!), and am mailing it out tomorrow.

^ Lucky.

Mine is no where near done. I need two more pages for my portfolio, to edit it a few more times and to finish/edit my statement of purpose, and my teacher has yet to respond to my question about writing my recemendation and I need to see if the school has processed my request for transcripts yet...

Wow. I have a lot to do.

Good luck :)

How generous are they with financial aid?
Also i just found out about the program and it takes about two weeks for my school to process transcript. do you think they'll let me send the transcript past the due date?

I second the question about FA.

So, who else will be nerviously biting their fingers for around the next two monthes until acceptance/rejection letters are mailed.

Uhg. I'm going to die when I apply for college.

Oh gosh, so will I re:college. I will be SO freaking nervous. Hahaha.

I won't have finger nails or any new-ish looking pens by the end of spring senior year.

oh dear, I can only imagine... (RE college)
When I'm anxious I can't sleep, and that's on top of the sleeping problems and lack of sleep that I already have.

however, whether i get accepted or not doesn't worry me much. it's a long shot for me anyway, since i'm a freshman and they rarely admit freshmen. i'll just do some community service and take a math class if i don't get in.

Ya, I think I'll spend time up with my family and maybe do some rafting if I don't make it. Oh well, I'm doing that anyhow.

I'll probably end up calling the local food bank and see if they need anything done, along with maybe trying to land a part time job (My mom can't even find one here, and she's been looking down at the jobs I'd get, so I don't have much hope.). An internship would be nice, but there's no where around here I'd really look into going for one.

ARHG! I just realized on my transcript I sent in, it shows a D for my Latin class, because of some crap that happened this year. I already sent my app. Should I send a letter to accompany it explaining, but then again, my Latin teacher wrote my rec, so will I be fine?

Gosh. I feel like one of those annoying "chance me" threads!

Yay for the extension to the 17th

^ Oh. I completely agree. I was about to hit the person who put it as the 16th, a national holiday

indeed, i would have had to mail it in today if it hadn't been changed (which would have sucked hard)

Is mailing it the day of (Feb. 17) considered postmarked? Like, say, around three in the afternoon? :/

^Yup. :) 10char

April 1st... oh, the suspense! ;)

I'm already so nervous.

I'm to the stage where no matter what anyone says, I think I'm getting denied. I hate suspense.

^ It's been so bad all weekend. (I just found out about the Studio a few days ago.) I've been so unbelievably stressed. It's going to be epic when I start applying to colleges two years from now. i*

^ Agreed.

Uhg. I'm going to die. I found out about two weeks before apps were due, but thought I still had a month. About a week before they were due I decided to check the date and freaked out. It's hard trying to get a teacher rec. and a transcript within a week. The writing was the easy part. (I just took my best pieces and editted them out again.)

BUMP

Thought I'd pull this up for all of us applying.
I'm still nervous. I think my mother might strangle me if I bring it up once more.
