I completed the fafsa and I’m independent my school sent me papers to verify my independence and they need a tax transcript from me. When I go online or even call no matter what it always says my request cannot be completed at this time. What do I do???
You can go to the tax office in your city.
Are you sure it says it isn’t available? Last year they stopped providing them online, but they will mail you one.
Oh. Well my college told me I could do it online or in the phone so I just called and went online. But the financial aid assistant at my univeristy said I would have to file first and then wait 2-3 weeks and then request them. How would I request them in the mail?
Have you filed your 2015 taxes yet? If you haven’t, that’s one reason why you would not be able to request a tax transcript. The IRS can’t provide a transcript of something that doesn’t exist.
