Irvine and Santa Barbara, which UC is good for engineering?

As I research more schools, I’ve been getting very conflicting answers with this question and I was hoping to get a general answer here.

I know that UC Berkeley is good for engineering, for somewhat obvious reasons. However, I don’t think that I’ll get into a top-tier UC anymore (I’ll still try for LA!) so I"m setting my sights on mid-tier schools like Irvine and Santa Barbara. I really want to know which one would be a better choice for engineering.

All the UC’s have good engineering programs and it may depend on which type of engineering. Biomedical is not offered at UCSB but it is offerred at UCI. Civil engineering can be found at UCD but not UCSD etc…

Oh, I forgot to specify. I’m very interested in chemical engineering.
