Irvine Engineering Admissions?

Applied for Mech E at UC I. I know that the school is not as known for its engineering program compared to other UCs so I was wondering if that means it would be easier for me to get in. Anyone who has insight on admissions please help.

GPA Unweighted: 3.6
Weighted: 3.75
ACT: 26 (Math being highest score, then reading)
4 AP Classes taken - Psychology, Computer Science, Calculus AB, Human Geography
-Essays highlighted my growing passion for solving problems and interest towards engineering

Extra curriculars: Varsity golf for four years, DECA Officer for 2 years, Competitor for Real World Design Challenge (8th place out of 60), member of school’s engineering club, UNICEF VP, Intern for golf company, Google temporary employee, took online engineering courses.

I know my grades and test scores are slightly below average but I hope my essay and EC will help with my admissions. Do you think I’ll be able to get into UCI? or any other UCs (Davis, SD, SC, SB)? :frowning:

UCI has a very good Engineering College and ME is one of the more competitive engineering majors. Last year UCI had around 2000 applicants for ME with an acceptance rate of around 33%. I would say based on your below average GPA and test scores, UCI would be a Low Reach.

Average UC GPA: 4.03
Average ACT: 28

This is the overall average for the school but expect competitive majors to be above these numbers.

Your best chance would be UCSC. I do not see UCD/UCSB or UCSD as possible acceptances. Did you apply to UCR/UCM also?

No but I did apply to some out of state schools such as UW and CU Boulder. I figured most of the UCs I applied to are low reaches but I’m hoping to get lucky

Do you have any safety schools? because UW and CU Boulder are definitely not safety schools. CU Boulder looks like a Match school and UW probably a Low Reach for Engineering.
