I got my official schedule and I will be entering ND as a mathematics intent. My schedule pretty much consists of theo, gen physics I, Calc I (10550), chem 10171, and Chinese I. It's a total of 20 credits. It seems as if a lot of my time will be spent in tutorials and labs...is this schedule way too hectic for a freshman? as in is it possible to manage and still be able to have a life? I'm worried that I won't be able to enjoy the other parts of college if things get tough.

It will be tough but I do not think that it is too intense. Your first semester is almost always the hardest academically speaking (transition, new home, etc.). Gen physics lab is fairly simple and chemistry lab is not terribly difficult. Tutorials are annoying but can be very helpful if you approach them with a good state of mind. You will be in class a lot but try not to stress over it. Good luck.

Sure, once you get a better feel of your schedule you will have a better idea about extracurriculars. You need to find some sort of diversion to stay happy.

The main thing to remember is that you are going from a situation where you had 40 hours of class time (high school) to one where, even at the maximum, you have only 20. Yes, you will have more homework, but will you really have the high school load PLUS another 20 hours? I’d be very surprised. You now own your time, and it’s your responsibility to manage it better, but if you do it right you will find you have much more free time.
