Tufts
NYU

any other suggestions?
I also signed up for the ACT for December

well with your income i am going to assume your looking for scholarships?

You're from CA, why not UCB and UCLA? UCLA does have a semi- IR major in the Poli Sci department, but best of all college would be almost free for you with Cal Grant.

yeah i dont want to stay in california.
I don't like the UC's as all.
they dont give me that vibe that small liberal arts colleges do.
i dont want to be a number sitting in a poli sci forum. you know waht i mean?

***, none of the schools you listed are liberal arts colleges?
NYU is huge, and none of the other schools you mentioned are by normal standards small.

Why don't you try actual LACs, like Middlebury, Amherst, etc, etc.

Georgetown (EA) School of Foreign Service - weak chance
Boston College (EA) - OK chance
Notre Dame (EA) - weak chance
Tufts - OK chance
NYU - OK chance

You need safeties. Do not send your SAT scores. Your ACT score is not bad.

he has to for some. Cause at least a few of those require SAT 2s. So send both

oh.
i see.

30 is definitely fine!

oh
okay thanks dude!
hahaha

bumpppppppppppp

please?

just curious, what kind of questbridge scholarship did you get? Don't you choose a college through their program?

Well....SELL your story to the schools that you are applying to. You are more than just an ACT score. TELL THEM YOUR COMPELLING STORY!

And relax. DONT be depressed. DONT align your future and your mental health to whether you get into a big name school or not. That is patently ridiculous. College Admissions are capricious and arbitrary at times. Its not YOU its the process. So pull up your socks and be happy! Millions of kids would change places with you and your grades, scores etc.

Pick some match schools and some safeties. Embrace them! If you get into a reach/dream school...great. If not, dont fret and move on. By September 08 when you ARE in college somewhere, you will look forward and NOT backwards. You will be happy and content and excited about your new life as a college student. Trust me. This happens over and over and over.

I know a kid with SUPER scores who got burned by Georgetown AND Notre Dame last year. He is now at Fordham on scholarship and happier than Yogi Bear with a new picnic basket.

Life goes on. Your future is NOT tied to some big school. Your future is tied to YOU and your motivation, determination, mental and physical well being, maturity and social skills.

There are LOTs of schools waiting to hear from you.

Univ. of San Diego. USC. Santa Clara. Pepperdine. On and on and on.....

HUNDREDS of schools waiting to hear from you.

There is nothing wrong with Tufts, Georgetown and Notre Dame. But you have to understand its a crap shoot.....some will get in and many wont. So apply to 10 schools or so....a few reaches, a bunch of matches and a few safeties.
It will ALL work out.

Dont apply to ANY school where you dont fit in...regardless of their rank and avg. SAT scores.

Sometimes safety and match schools give you MORE MONEY!

And yes, Fordham in New York would LOVE to hear from you! Its a FABULOUS school with FABULOUS kids....more than 20 from California admitted and ATTENDING this year alone.

OP: These aren't small liberal arts colleges. There are plenty of those you would be competitive for, but I don't see any on your list.

30 ACT is def. fine.

30 is fine.

Try Vanderbilt University, you have a good chance. Vietnamese are kind of minority here (I live in Nashville and I'm half Viet).

What about American University as a safety/match? I'm not sure how good their fin. aid is.

NYU does NOT have a rep for giving a lot of financial aid, fyi (only know because I'm applying there as well).

But most of your schools aren't exactly small liberal arts schools....so as others have said, you may want to look at other schools.
