Is 4,000 Bucks too much for a Summer Program?

I'm applying to a summer institute called Interlochen during the summer. I'm really interested in Creative Writing so I want to attend their institute up North. The costs is 4,275 dollars and the classes last 3 weeks. The cost includes room and board, classes, group instruction, all recreational facilities and admission to faculty and student performances. Tuition also covers private lessons that are required as part of an arts program. I want to take this program so I'm actually doing something over the summer for college and because I'm also interested in Film Production (I want to be a Screenwriter).

If you can afford it then by all means do it.

If its the Interlochen Center For the Arts than do it.
I have a friend who goes there and according to him, it is totally worth it.
If you can afford it, go, definitely.

If your family can afford it without seriously scrimping, absolutely do it. I spent two summers at Interlochen (though tuition has gone up a bit since then, and that was just 2-3 years ago) and credit it with helping me produce my best writing–writing that has won me competitions and continued to provide me with opportunities after attending. Two of my instructors wrote me college recs and suggested colleges and scholarships for me, and I’m still very good friends with several of the fellow CW majors. I’m trying to work in a visit this summer with some of those old friends! I’d be happy to PM you details or answer any questions you might have.

I would, however, check out the screenwriting opportunities. While screenwriting and the writing department are close, they aren’t actually linked, and I’m not sure if opportunities exist for a CW major to take screenwriting classes.

OK, I just don’t know how I’ll be able to pay for it. 4000 is a lot of money and my parents are kind of poor…

You may be able to apply for scholarship. Do you have a good profolio?

I haven’t finished it yet, but I believe that I’m a very proficient and creative writer. How much would I be able to get?

I don’t think my parents or myself have the adequate finances to even pay a portion of the program. I’m really worried. Is there possibly an alternative I could choose in place of this summer program that could adequately emphasize my passion for Creative Writing/Screenwritng.
