is 670 on SAT II Math lvl 2 is a straight rejection?

So I got my Math 2 scores today. 670. Ouch. Is there even a little hope left? I have strong and unique EC's, national olympiads, 33 on the ACT and I am an international student from a very underrepresented region that rarely applies to the U.S.

While Admissions goes out of its way to accept at least one student from all 50 US States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, they do not do the same with regions of the world or countries. That may be a bigger issue than your 670 math score.

Don’t agree with #1. Diversity does matter.

Do you have any other math stats to back up your math skills? And what year are you?

Also - why is it that EVERYBODY has unique ECs? Unique isn’t that unique apparently.

(I recall someone considered it an EC to have memorized pi to 1,000 digits…)

The only thing I have is a 32 on math section of the ACT. As for uniqueness of my ECs - I have created a charity organization to support people that were wounded in the anti-terrorist operation on the Eastern Ukraine. I think it is unique, but I might be wrong

By itself, the low score isn’t going to be the cause of being rejected. But the score isn’t adding to your application. Rather than a disqualifying factor, you might want to look at it as a missed opportunity.

The purpose of your charitable organization is likely unique - I haven’t heard of any charities that do the same thing - but starting a charity that serves an unusual purpose isn’t especially unique among applicants at highly-selective schools. The wow power of this sort of extracurricular has probably peaked by this point (just my guess).

Any more opinions? Please! Give me hope :)

What does the rest of your app look like? I think it’ll be really tough to get into Harvard with a 670 tbh

SAT II is optional at Harvard, I would abstain from submitting it.

SAT II is technically optional at Harvard, but they’ve said for internationals or home schooled people it’s pretty highly recommended

I’m a domestic student and got accepted with my 750 math 2 score. Granted, I haven’t looked at that level of math in at least 3 years…

But don’t let it worry you. It may be a factor, but that is definitely not what is going to seal your admissions fate. Focus on every aspect of your application, not just SAT scores. Plus, schools are tending to shy away from standardized test scores as they are not commonly believed to be accurate representations of intellect.

And if you think about it, a 670 is really only a few questions off from a 750 or even 800. Just don’t let it be something that shadows your entire application. Make everything else stand out as much as possible, in other words.

I definitely don’t think it’ll prevent you from getting in!! Getting in takes a lot of luck for anyone, but you seem qualified and that charity sounds really cool! (It just depends on what they see in you and what they decide, and who really knows what their decisions are based on? Getting into Harvard is hard for anyone, and I don’t think this score would be considered a detracting factor) I got in with SAT 2 scores of 760 (math 2), 710 (lit), 700 (french), and 650 (US history… didn’t send, but still! that’s not a great score haha). I feel like college confidential is sometimes too obsessed with analyzing the college application process and manipulating applications to increase chances of acceptance… when really all you can do is be yourself, try your best, express yourself as much as you can in your essays and through your actions in high school, and hope for the best. There’s no formula to predict acceptance, and test scores are NOT everything! I think they’re a much smaller factor than people on this website think. Wishing you the best!!

There’s hope. I got in and I had a 670 on my Math I, and I submitted it along with a 680 Lit.
even if you had a 500, that definitely would not be the reason they’d reject you if the rest of your application is stellar.
It would definitely be helpful if your regular SAT and ACT scores are good though. At least in the 700’s. Just to prove that you’re a decent test taker.

Wow, thank you so much guys! I’ve almost lost all hope to get in, but now I really feel much better.
