Is 700 on SAT Lit good enough for highly selective colleges?

I got a 700 on SAT Lit in October, and registered for another shot on Dec 3. However, I've been busy with other things lately and haven't done much prep. I don't think I can get a much better score--in fact I would feel lucky to get the same score again--considering that I have only 3 days left.

I'm applying to Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Swarthmore, Cornell, and Northwestern (UChicago too but they don't require SAT IIs). I'm a bit worried because it seems many others will be submitting duo or trio 800s, or at least all 750+ on all SAT IIs.

Someone please?

Your score is 80% percentile for Literature. Literature is one of the hardest to score highly on. Your question is a difficult one to answer. Is it “good” enough, meaning will they not reject you because it is so low? Absolutely. But it is one of many factors, including other SAT subject tests. A 700 won’t stand out negatively. It actually can complement well other high scores. I’m pretty sure schools like Cornell require two subject tests and for a school like UChicago it would be very advisable to send some in.

Thanks! :)

Well it wouldn’t be abhorrently low  if you have other high scores I doubt it would keep you out.
My brother got into Yale and he submitted a 550 on his lit exam and he wasn’t anything special…
good luck wherever you end up
