I got my SAT results today, and I got a 2000. Is that a good, average, or bad score? For some of the schools I want to apply to, it’s right within the average student SAT range, and for others it’s either slightly below the average or slightly above.
Since this was my first SAT, I was thinking about re-taking it in the fall. Would that be a good idea, or is my score good enough to keep?
Your score is good, but if you are looking top schools like Ivy Leagues or MIT, Stanford, then a 2250+ will be enough. For sure you can bring that score up.
Depends what you’re aiming for. Obviously a 2000 is above average… way above average… about 90th percentile. However, like I said, it depends what you’re aiming for. IVY leagues? No. NYU, UVA, or Ann Arbor (all top schools). Yeah. tell us what your aiming for… Generally… try to be at least in the middle for your schools…
Remember,
25 percentile is reach
50 percentile is match
75 percentile is safety.
Good luck!
Thanks! I would like to apply to some Ivy Leagues, so I think I’ll try again next fall, unless I get, like, a perfect score when I take the ACT in June.
Yeah if you get a 33+ on the ACT, then you are good to go for all the schools. Try your best.
