Is a 2100 a good SAT Score...?

<p>So I woke up frantically this morning and almost rolled my ankle running to check my SAT score haha. I felt like I had done really poorly due to a lack of preparation, but to my surprise I got a 2100. My score breakdown is:</p>

<p>Critical Reading- 710
Math- 680
Writing- 710 (Multiple choice- 68, 10 on the essay)</p>

<p>I'm pretty proud, but I was wondering if this is a good enough grade for my two dream schools – Vanderbilt and UNC Chapel Hill. I know it's best to average 700s in each section, but I want to go to school for communications. Does this render my math score less important? </p>

<p>Apart from that I'm a junior and I have a 4.0 gpa, 98.3 to be exact and I'm ranked in the top 20 out of 500 or so students. My ECs are Newspaper editor, Student Council member, Beta Club, Science National Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta, French National Honors Society, Literary Magazine, Media Committee, and a few others. Nothing too special.</p>

<p>Honestly I feel like my college application is only slightly above average at this point, and I'm really not sure if a 2100 does much to improve that. I just don't want to retake the test because I absolutely hated the process.</p>

<p>Anyways, what I'm really asking is all things considered, do you think I could get into Vanderbilt or UNC Chapel Hill with my SAT score/overall credentials?</p>

<p>Are you in-state for UNC? </p>

<p>For out-of-state students, admission to UNC is pretty unpredictable as they are highly selective for out-of-state students. </p>

<p>For Vanderbilt, it’s a highly selective school, so you’ll definitely want to retake the SAT. However, a 2100 is a great starting point.</p>

<p>I’m out of state for UNC. And yeah I’ve heard that their out of state acceptance is very low, but hopefully being in the southeast is a plus. And thank you both! Yeah I figured my score was a little low for Vandy. </p>

<p>Also, most people who know me say, “oh you belong at a liberal arts school.” Any possible matches for me…?</p>

<p>Your SAT I on the 1600 scale is 1390, which is a bit low for Vandy. Colleges care more about the 1600 scale than the 2400 scale, because no one really cares about writing</p>
