lol hi!
well I'm an asian with an ACT score of 32 (30 E, 29 R, 32 S, 36 M, 8 essay)
is it really a bad score? I'm apply to cornell ED (computer science as a major, maybe accounting as a minor), and I often hear people saying that only a 33+ is a good score.............
thank you!

a 32 is not ‘bad’ lol. i hope you were kidding…

A 32 is within the middle-50 percent of students at cornell. If you feel a 33+ would make you more competitive (which it probably would) then feel free to retake.

But by no means is a 32 bad.
I know someone with an ELEVEN :D

A 32 is a good score! If a 30 is a 2000 SAT, and 36 is 2400. Then 400/6= ~70

So if you multiply 70 by 2, you get your converted score which is about a 2140!

Yeah, for Cornell it’s probably good enough.

I’m just guessing that you made this topic for the attention.

or maybe he just wanted advice…

No one with a 32 can be that stupid, honestly. Google the damn score conversions. It’s for bragging rights to post on this site…

Still, there is a certain voice cc people hold that you can’t get anywhere else.

I’m really not trying to show off or anything. I attend an extremely competitive high school, and I know lots of ppl who got 34s and 35s. Also, I’m a bit worried because of the intense competition among we azn students.

^I doubt a lot of people got 34,35s… Probably a bunch of kids who think they’re good and lie about their scores due to insecurities.

32 is perfectly awesome.

^ I honestly doubt it.

It only makes sense that a lot of the kids that get 34s and 35s would be at a competitive school or on cc.

There’s nothing for you to worry about. I got a 32 as well, but my reading score is pretty low. Anyway, I don’t want to retake. I think it’s better to devote more to your application essay than doing the ACT all over again.
Good luck!

32 is fine. If it’s for bragging rights, that’s pretty pathetic. Since a 32 is fine, but I got an equivalent to a 32 on the SAT cold, it’s not that big of a deal. The people that make threads about getting a 35 and are wondering if they should retake are the ones I get annoyed at hah.

a 32 is 99% percentile, enough said

@ cjgone: the act does not measure common sense or attention seeking or blind paranoia
OP: stop being a little ***** and get off CC
You are what I hate about this site. It is filled with whining losers who care WAY too much about their college process. Get over it. Your standardized test score is not the most important piece of your app. You need to realize this and stop wasting your time asking other people who, frankly can give you no better advice than anything you don’t know already. The people on this site are not admissions representatives incognito. Get a life

hahaha guys…way to digress from topic
the OP asked if a 32 was competitive for Cornell

and the honest answer is that for top universities, all you can do is score as high as you can and hope for the best

I’m sure a 32 is in Cornell’s middle 50% range; however, it may not be in the upper regions…I wouldn’t worry too much about your test score at this point, but rather focus more on your essays

32 is roughly a 2130.
Although that is around the average of many top tier colleges, you must take into consideration that these colleges accept URMS, Athletes, etc. so many times the real average for regular students is much higher. Unless you have some sort of hook, I would suggest you to retake it and get it up to a 34 to be safe.

A 32 is good. The people who tell you otherwise are being idiots. That’s all.

Are you high? A 32 is an AMAZING score. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty damn close. You could for sure get into Cornell with a 32, if your grades are good enough.

I hate people who cry their heads off when they received a 32. A 32 could get you in to Harvard for god’s sake!
