When my GPA was calculated on the A-G scale for Cal State Applications, I noticed it went down to 4.26 compared to my GPA on my high school transcripts (4.67). I’m not sure how they calculate it, and I was wondering, is this still considered a good GPA for their scale?
CSU ‘s calculate the GPA with 10-11th a-g course grades and a cap of 8 semesters of weighted classes taken 10-11th.
Your HS may do the weighting system differently than the Cal states so for application purposes, the CSU capped weighted GPA is what you use.
Maximum CSU GPA is 4.4. Your GPA is competitive depending upon major and campus.
FYI, for any CS applicants for SJSU, the cutoff is 4.35 unless you’re local.
4.26 is very good but for some really competitive majors, it’s a bit low.
