Is a 4 on the AP World History exam bad?

I got a 4 on my AP World History exam, and I’m pretty disappointed, since the schools that I was looking at, such as UVA and Washington and Lee do not accept 4’s. Does this mean that this is a bad score, or that I don’t have a good chance of going to these schools, even if I’m ranked in top 3% of my class? Also, should I include the 4 in my transcript that I send to colleges, or should I leave it out?

Absolutely include the score. If you don’t, they’ll likely think you failed the exam, and that’s why you didn’t include it.

A 4 is a great score. It won’t get you college credits in most higher-up colleges, but it looks great on your record in that you took a challenging class, passed it, and did respectably well. Even if you don’t get the required 5’s, colleges love it when students take AP’s because it shows initiative and willingness to take on a challenge.

Got the same grade!
Anyway, be happy! Not everyone will get a 4. Be proud of your achievement. You can still apply to AMAZING colleges, like NYU, Princeton, and Barnard!

It’s not bad. Less than 6% got a 5. Also, you can get into good schools with a 4. I know someone who got a 3 on us history and is going to Harvard.

Yes, 4 is a terrible score.

Absolutely awful.

I got a 4. Was disappointed, but alas it was my first ever AP.

managed to get a 5 :D
