I recently received a 4 on my AP World History exam, which is not what I was expecting, but is still considered a good score. What I would like to know is if it is worth it to put this score on an application. Do colleges overlook these scores? Let’s say, theoretically, I want to apply to an IV League school. Would I put this score on my application? Does the class affect this? World History is not a class offered at most colleges, and the IV League schools do not provide any credit. If someone were to put a 4 instead of a 5 on an application to one of these schools, do you think they would care?
A 4 is an excellent score, they won’t care, and if you don’t put it down you risk the assumption that you got a 1. You don’t want that. Report it.
A 4 is good enough for credit at some schools. Congrats! But nobody is going to “assume you got a 1” if you don’t mention it. It is not required for application anywhere I know of, and is typically brought up only after admission, in order to get college credit, if applicable.
