Is a Bachelor of Applied Science worth it?

Hi all,

Does a Bachelor of Applied Science hold the same weight as a BS (in my case, majoring in an IT/computer-related field)?

I'm currently pursuing an associates in Computer Network Administration, and working as an IT consultant. I'd like to move on to a bachelors, and later, masters, but know I'd like to go online. I've done my research about online schools, and know right from wrong (i.e. accredited / brick & mortar vs. for-profit / diploma mills), so I'm all set there. Just trying to dig up info on the BAS vs BS topic.

Thanks!

If your intended major is computer science or computer engineering, and the school is not a well known top school in the subject, you may want to check if it is ABET accredited in the subject.

Does that also include MIS / CIS / Technology Management programs? Or would those be under a different authority?
