im a senior, got a C- first semester in AP calc BC
i know the SD contract said i need C and above for my courses
so is a C- same as a C?

I didn’t know high schools gave out +/- grades…I would assume it is because its not a d or f ? …but don’t take my word for it!
If you want a solid answer, call the admissions office.

A C- should be the same as a C gpa wise so I wouldn’t worry about it.

omg I hope so. I called them and they were so unhelpful! One person said something about If you have below a C such as a C-…and another told me to report the grade in email or something without telling me whether I really should! Even though this is pointing to a C-=fail, I don’t really think so. UCLA doesn’t even care for C-, I think the admissions officers are just told to not say anything for sure.

just called again c- ok

r u serious?
C- is ok??
YESS

Why is the admissions office and finaid office so difficult? I don’t get any clear answers and it seems like they lack compassion. Can any people who are currently at UCSD enlighten us incoming freshman: are these offices ALWAYS like this???

freshmen, not freshman.

dunno, probably could’ve avoided the problem by not getting the C- in the first place?

welcome to adulthood. many things are going to be difficult and hard to find and poorly-organized. from this point on, things will not be handed to you on a platter. learn the system, be considerate and appreciative of those who try to help you, and you just might find that things get a little easier over time.

Hahahaha beautiful answer as always

astrina, excuse my typo. I was speaking in reply to uchogwarts, I apologize for not making that clear. There’s a little more background to my answer that probably isn’t clear in my last post, I also apologize for that. I do not have a C- or a C or even a B in any of my classes; you might notice that my last post was also my only post in this thread. I was referring to the fact that the financial aid office told me they “returned” some tax forms because of a mistake but they have no record of HOW they returned it. They didn’t email it to me or my parents, it hasn’t showed up in the mail. They said that they “usually” return by mail, but it’s been two weeks since they claimed they sent it. Of course, I can’t expect you to know all that.

I’m not being asked to have things handed to me on a platter; I’m well aware that a university financial aid office operates as a business and as a business, I expect them to keep records and provide information (such as the date a very important document has been released or the method that it was returned) to me. When I called the office, I appreciated that they took the time to speak to me (and made that very clear) but did not find their information helpful. Of course, I’m still trying to be patient but it is very difficult to do so.

I can see how my post could be considered naive but only because I am losing my patience for the office. I received another email today (in fact, before that very post) from the office saying that I would just have to reprint my tax forms and send them again. But what happened to my other forms?? They’re just lost?? How could a BUSINESS lose such important information??

I’m frustrated and I’m sorry for sounding so naive but I can assure you that I am not. I appreciate someone trying to teach me a life lesson over the internet but I think you chose the wrong person to mentor. Thank you anyway.

C-= 2.0 in HS

so yes a C-= C
