Is a degree in Biology useless?

I want to become a forensic scientist and work along with the police department. I noticed that not many schools offer a degree in forensic science which makes my search difficult and the schools that I found that I like I can’t afford.
So I thought, why not do a degree in biology if I can’t get one in forensics? The one school I was looking at has biology, biochemistry, chemistry, and organic chemistry courses within their BS biology degree.
Though someone I knew told me that a degree in biology is useless.

A degree in Biology is not useless. There are many many careers you can pursue with a BS in Biology. Off the cuff,
the 10 bio major grads my husband and I know from undergrad:

5 are MDs
one is a CEO of a baked goods company
one is a PhD , college professor
2 are in biomedical sales fields
one is a VP in development at a professional school(not a med school).

SO that is just a quick example. Your major does not lock you into a career path–there are a myriad of potential paths for Bio majors; this is just a small selection.
