Is Adding Applied Statistics Minor to complement Economics worth the cost?

Hello, and thanks in advance for your help,

I'm beginning my junior year of undergrad, and I'm questioning what my end majors and minors should be. I've maintained 3.96 in Business and Arts&Sciences courses. The current plan is:

BS in Business Administration: Economics and Finance (as it's called at my school)
BA in International Relations
Minor in German (to indicate fluency

I also am taking 2 courses in Geographic Information Systems to develop proficiency.

However, I enjoy statistics, and remain dubious concerning the value of a stand-alone Econ degree. I will only encounter econometrics and Cal 1. I am not math averse, so I am discouraged. The opportunity cost of switching to a Math major is large, and therefore I'm considering pursuing an "Applied Statistics" minor, which requires only 4 additional classes, to complement Econ.

I foresee myself enjoying work that involves quantitative/statistical analysis, spatial analysis (GIS), and/or planning in some sort of management position. A PhD in economics is likely NOT something I will want to do. The US foreign service, urban planning, logistics, and aviation/transportation management are all careers I am interested in just about equally.

1) I've been told economics is a good foundation for entry research jobs related to the interests I just listed above. Is this a good assumption?

2) Is an applied statistics minor a good fit for a BS in Economics and Finance, considering the cost of staying an additional semester (6-8,000 dollars) to complete it?

Thanks again. Have a great day.
