Is gaining admission at CMU harder for international student than it is for US citizens?

Yes, it's a lot harder.

Depends really. I'm pretty sure I got admitted to CIT solely on my marks. Intl students pay the full fees, so....

i am not looking for any kind of scholarship or aid, but they dont offer it for international students anyway. i am pretty sure i can get hold of a green card because some of my family members are US citizens. if it does not make a big difference in my chance of admission then i wont get the green card.

????????????????????

i mean i can get them to adopt me officially, although it doesnt change anything, except i become a US citizen

Don't such processes take at least a year? My asian friend who lives off-campus had his mom marry an American and it took almost a year for him to get his green card. Maybe that was just a special case though but I would get the green card IF you can.

i have no reason to get a green card unless it gives me a significant better chance of admission. so does it?

He had his mom marry an American? The way you wrote that made it seem wrong in so many ways.(incredulous)
