Hi, so I am currently a college freshman, but later on in life, I want to become a forensic accountant. I was thinking of minoring in forensic science, but my adviser told me it s not a good idea to do so because it is too science based. He said that I would receive the same skills by being an accounting major with a computer science and information studies dual minor. He said it s also more doable because every single class except for one overlaps with the two minors. So to do both, I would take the same classes +1. Do you think this is a good idea for my future career as a forensic accountant?
I’m a CPA (not a forensic accountant) but it sounds like it makes sense. You might be fine with only one of the minors. You have time to figure it out. Also keep in mind also that if you want to become a CPA that you now need 150 credits (most undergraduate programs are 120 credits) so many go on for a one year master’s degree.
