Is an economics major somewhat valuable?

I am going to be attending Penn State in the Fall and I plan on majoring in Econ (BS) and minoring in Math. I like both subjects and I excel at them, but I am worried about job prospects out of college. I was thinking about going to grad school after (MBA/JD/MA in econ) but lets say I don't.

How difficult is it to get a job with that degree? Something that pays at least 40k would be ideal.

Econ is probably the easiest major to get that can get you 40,000. You can get jobs that are the same from a finance major. So job prospects are pretty good. But to get a better prospect, intern for a place that you want to work at. Say goldman sachs, to get the foot in the door and you should be good to go

A degree by itself isn’t enough. You need to intern. The better the internship, the more likely you will land a well paying job.

Are you able to double major in Math and take an Econ path with a greater Math emphasis? If so, you stand out better.
