Hey all,

I'm confused as to which SAT scores to send. The tests in consideration:

Test 1: CR690 M760 W760
Test 2: CR800 M770 W720

I'm debating between sending both or just Test 2. If I send both, they'll see +40 in writing, but they'll also see the 110 point difference in my CR score. How important is the +40 points in writing compared to the larger difference in CR? Might it be better to send just Test 2?

Thanks in advance, none of the faculty at my school could say either way!

There is this marvelous thing called a “superscore.”
Send colleges all of your scores, and the majority of them will take the best score in each section from all the test dates. Your current superscore is CR800 M770 W760 = Composite 2330. That’s a great score.

The fact that the faculty at your school have never heard of “superscoring” is really not good. I shudder to think of the college advising that your school officials provided.

Thanks, Bartleby. I’m aware of superscoring, and I guess my concern is this: even if colleges use the superscore, does the person handling your application still have access to all scores you send? Could they still take into account your lower scores even when claiming to judge you only on your highest? Or do they ONLY have access to your highest score from each section?

Dear Worrywart,

Are you really that afraid of an admissions officer seeing your CR690?

Relax. Your SAT scores are good enough. They certainly won’t be the reason a school will reject you.
