I have not slept for 2 weeks in anticipation of my S20 admission decision.
His SAT score (1410) and grades (W4.23) falls right in the middle of last year’s accepted student profile.
He has decent EC’s and personal essay.
Every indication leads us to believe that he fits the profile to be accepted. His college counselor never once said that he should focus on other schools.
He has already been accepted to his safety school (Towson) with a Provost Scholarship.
He has also applied to only one other school for which he is awaiting the RD for in March.
Should he not be accepted, I think we will be more devasted for him than he will be.
@ravenrob Yes, this is my 2nd time through and no easier. Two years ago, my son only got into his safety and did not want to go there. We didn’t have the chocolate chip cookie tv commercial moment, only stress and sadness and yes, it is was personally devastating. But guess what; he is thriving at his school and didn’t even consider transferring. S20 was also accepted in the same safety school and says that he will be perfectly happy there, so yes we are nervous but they really end up ok!
Yes, super anxious for my daughter as well. And we just noticed on Naviance that UMD is listed as regular decision, and she thought she did early action. Really can’t wait until April 1st for a decision. Ugh!
Wondering if it’s too late or would calling and asking to be included in EA be a possibility.
Since we are OOS and DS20’s stats are somewhat on the cusp of going either way for acceptance, I have mixed emotions. If he gets in, we will be thrilled for him, but it will be a stretch for us financially. Doable, but not ideal. He’s gotten merit from several other schools including UMass Amherst and College of Charleston, both of which would be more affordable. But man, he will be so excited to be a Terp. If he doesn’t get in, it actually makes things easier in the long run. But we want him to be happy.
Ravenrob keep in mind that actually enrolled stats are lower than accepted, so he has a real good chance.
My son is applying to Clark, 1430 SAT, 3.8 GPA from strong NJ Prep School. He is in at Purdue and Wisconsin, which seem to have more interest for him. However, I am intrigued with MD as he wants to work in food industry, and they offer FDA internship. In addition, just a 3.5 hour drive for us from North Jersey as opposed to getting on plane.
