Im just curious to see if anyone out there is thinking about Davis like I am. It seems like everyone is either deciding between UCB or UCLA!!

I visited Davis for the first time this week and must say that I was pleasantly surprised. The town is really laid-back and nice.

Yea i went a couple weeks ago. It was pretty nice, I liked it.

I visited Davis this past weekend and it was really nice, I am considering UCD

no I never did....I only applied cause I got paranoid

I did...until I got into UCLA. But seriously I visited the school and I loved it. Very relaxed and very homely in a good way. I thought the ARC was awesome too. Had I not unexpectedly gotten into LA, I pretty much would've went to Davis for sure.

Ok......this discussion died!!!!! Anyone else going to or considering UCD?!
I just got back from UCSB and as soon as I got on my computer, I sent my SIR in to Davis! But now I am debating Davis vs. Santa Clara.

I use to live in Davis. If you go Natalie, go eat at Fuji's it has the best all you can eat sushi...sooooo good. I didn't find Santa Clara on the top 100 list. Is Santa clara a LAC?

Wait I'm confused....so you've sent your SIR to Davis but you're still considering another school?

davis seems like a really chill/nice town and a cool college to attend...but i've heard its tough as a transfer. as you can imagine, it IS a small college town, and i've heard that transfer students have a lot of trouble making friends, since all the cliques are already established and stuff..

but whatever, its a nice school.

Santa Clara is considered a "Master's University" by US News because it offers zero, or close to zero, Phds. On the list of Master's Universities in the West, which includes the CSUs, Santa Clara is ranked #2, after Trinity University.

gabe, what about it's BA program? I have a friend going there as well.

...the ranking accounts for its undergraduate program--of course it offers BAs. Again, the reason it is classified that way is because they don't offer phds.

So how does Santa clara rank compared to other schools? Like what UC would it be similar to as far as rankings, difficulty of admission and etc?

It isn't compared to UCs on the rankings; you need to understand that. UCs are national universities with many phd programs and an emphasis on research. Santa Clara is different.
