is anyone else doing a list

for favorite things question, is anyone else doing a list, or am I totally lame. I'm just listing things and then writing a sentence fragment explaining it.

Some discussion from an older post: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/433902-just-list.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-chicago/433902-just-list.html</a></p>

My daughter and I did a visit with admissions dept in the fall and I remember admissions counselor saying they do not want a list, they want an essay and they are definately not wanting to hear the song from The Sound of Music. Good luck.

really? hmm "Tell us about..." sounds kind of casual

Well, UofC has a casualness about them, especially the admissions department. If I recall correctly (good chance my memory is failing) they are trying to get a good picture of who you are, how you will fit in and your writing skills. If you've given this in other questions, then don't worry too much about getting this correct, or you could email them and ask them, depending on when your app is due.

a list is a horrible decision - unless it's a lengthy list, and i emphasize lengthy. But if you're going to submit a decent sized list to the U, why not just go ahead and write to them:"Hey, I care so much about your school that I'm going to copy my favorite things list from my Myspace/facebook, paste it in your little text box, and click submit!"
