Gee…I wish W&M had other ways of informing people on decisions…I feel bad for everybody! ><

Nothing for us today either. My daughter nor her friend (both of whom go to an all girls boarding school in Virginia) received anything today. On a positive note, another friend of my daughter’s who goes to a really big public high school in northern Virginia said that the only kids who have heard anything at her school from W&M were deferred. She said the ones that she thought were “shoe-ins” still haven’t heard. So maybe??? Tomorrow!!!

It goes back to the bigger envelope, right? That would explain one neighbor getting the deferral and the other getting nothing.

Haven’t posted to this thread before – my D didn’t hear yet either. We’re in Maryland, so not too far away.

Really thought it would come today – but it will be awful if it doesn’t come tomorrow. Thank goodness the U.S. Postal Service hasn’t eliminated Saturday mail delivery . . .

Okay, well I hope everyone gets their letters tomorrow!

I’m going out for my favorite pizza with my parents (it’s also their anniversary, so it’s like a double celebration!)

my son got in! the envelope is the size of and 81/2 X 11 mailer but is not thick. Richard’s had a big WELCOME on the outside. Good luck to you all, it will come tomorrow.

My heart goes out to all the deferrals. Am getting very anxious with the wait. Congrats to all who have received good news. Can’t think of a better Christmas gift (assuming you celebrate Christmas). We’re out in Hawaii, so will probably have to wait til Sat or Mon. By Tue am sure to be completely stressed.

No one from my son’s high school has been accepted to W&M without at least a 3.7 unweighted. My son has a 3.6, so we’re all pins and needles.

acath where are you located? Congrats to your son!!
Have a great weekend Rixs…now you don’t have to stress anymore all of senior year! (lucky)

my daughter was deferred 2 years ago and then got in, there are stats on their site somewhere, I think they let in 113 after deferring them then. good luck! 113 out of 1300 is not so little.

we are in northern virginia and he goes to flint hill, has a 3.67 unweighted but steady increase every year. not such a stretch from 3.6!

I got deferred. sucks but got into umich the same day, so no tears for me.
I just don’t get it… were my SATS too low? (2070 / 1310) I’m top 10% out of 310 at one of the most competitive, top public high schools in the tri-state area (no one else to my knowledge applied there early though … or could this explain it all - that I’m out of state?). I have great extracurriculars (not to brag…i’m seriously perplexed here…ranging from environmental clubs to varsity sports to art to Model UN to law clubs). I have a weighted gpa 4.34 (i think that’s about a 3.8ish unweighted), creative essays, submitted a portfolio, too, and have around 300+ hours of community service. Anyone else get deferred and feel like sharing their stats?
oh also, know a family of parents and a middle aged daughter and all went there. they know the dean (first name basis) and even sent him a letter on my behalf mentioning that I love the school and would be a perfect candidate and am truly dedicated to all my causes etc.

The only thing i can say 7049 is your SATs seem a little low for OOS. What was your break down. 1310 for math and CR is below the middle 50 percent i think

is 1310 the middle 50 for OOS? because i know like 1200 something is the bottom 50 percent for everyone

i’m OOS and have a 1360…

7049 I’m from NJ, where are you from?

My best friend’s daughter was deferred. She’s bummed. Insists if she doesn’t get in regular decision, she’ll apply to transfer after her freshman year elsewhere.

I think 1310 is below middle 50 percent for everyone.

630 - 730 - CR
620 - 710 - Math

depends on what the breakdown is i guess. But its close to middle 50 pecent

Keil, I’m from NJ too, i hope we get our letters tomorrow

I realize the scores aren’t fantastic but on the website ( here’s the link: [William & Mary - Undergraduate Admission](Undergraduate Admission | William & Mary)) they seem to emphasize that numbers represent only a certain level of intelligence/involvement/whatever you want to call it… I don’t know, I guess after reading that I seemed to believe that my low scores just identified me as another “average” candidate but my extracurriculars elevated me. oh and i’m also from nj…

don’t feel too bad 7049. You were certainly qualified to get in, As many applicants who get deferred are. Sometimes people who have worse stats than others get in while the ones with better stats don’t. You’re not alone.

Thanks, I appreciate that.
Where in NJ are you? I’m northeastern

so you got your defer letter in nj today?sorry…
but

that might be a good sign for other northerners then!!!

im oos female (2170/1430)–What do you guys think? good chance?

You’re in NJ and you got the letter today? Probably means i should be getting mine tomorrow.
