Is anyone else scared of getting...

a nightmare roommate? None of my friends are going to UF, and so I have no one to request as a roommate. I'm seriously afraid I'm going to get someone who tries to steal my things, leaves the room an absolute mess, etc.
I know I'm thinking in terms of worst-case scenario, but still.

Anything you're worried about this coming year at UF?

It’s always a concern for people, I was a little terrified about that myself when I was about to be a freshman. One you first move in they make you and your roommate go through and fill out a “roommate contract” which basically spells out what is and isn’t allowed (borrowing food, staying up all night, leaving the room a disaster). My roommate and I got along fine, but some people had to resort to contacting the RA if their roommate was significantly breaking the rules.

Most of my friends worst experiences are mostly they just never really talked to their roommates, I can only think of 1 or 2 people who had roommates they absolutely hated. Overall people were usually cool with their roommates, but not the best of buddies.

You can try that uroomsurf.com site.

Zaersz: Oh that’s good to know, thanks! That will definitely help.

Dnerd: I’ll check that out, thanks.

Yeah, many of your roomies should be pretty considerate [if you’re a girl - girls are pretty cognizant of one another]. Now…if you’re a guy…weeeell. I can’t really vouch for that but I stayed in a dorm room with another girl for 2 weeks at a camp and it was 100% okay. Like Zaersz said, we were cool with one another but weren’t the best of friends.
