<p>We just received our first bill, and I have to say I am a bit shocked with the fees. Lab fees seem excessive. Does anyone know if any of these fees are "optional"?</p>
<p>The fees are not optional. Every college charges them (some hide them in the tuition, others don’t). Especially now since public colleges are getting in trouble for hiking tuition, they are charging fees instead and saying that they have low “tuition”. It’s all just part of the game though. In the end though, Clemson is about on par in terms of prices along with other flagship public colleges.</p>
<p>The mail service fee is optional.</p>
