Happy Sunflower... The parking is fine on or around the Brown Campus. You can usually park freely on George Street and if not George Street then one quick lap around the campus you are usually bound to find a few spots. However, if you plan on staying a night in Providence then one normally wouldn't need a rental. Downtime Providence is a short walk away from College Hill.

On the rental note: The further you stray away from the campus then the easier the task of finding parking becomes. By further I mean still within short walking distance.

BTW, the Radisson on I-195 (about 4 miles away) offers free shuttles to campus. You call when you need a ride to and from and they have a shuttle bus. You might have to wait a little, but we used it once or twice. We have found the parking to be hard around campus, especially with some of the construction going on.

I give a morning general campus tour Fridays at 9am and the physical science tour Friday afternoons at 3:15. There are additional accepted student tours that I may be able to give but have not yet been assigned to.

I'll also be a part of a panel on Advising and the Brown Curriculum during ADOCH.

Feel free to say, "Hi," to me any time at any of those places...

My son just visited today. After YALE in the morning, he and his dad drove like demons to BROWN. He called from Brown and said "it's pouring rain but this is it; I love this place...."

I did bring an umbrella... the rain BROKE it and was up to my ankles lol, but I loved it. Brown is the most awsome place ever, and I would do ANYYYYTHING to go there. If you really just take five minutes to take it all in, you'll feel it too. Bu if you want something interesting to do, talk to some of the professors about their research. Its incredibly interesting

aaahhhhh!!!! these posts are making me soo(!!!) excited for next week!

are professors really that accessible that you can just go up to them and talk to them?? and are the physical science tours worthwhile? i'm interested in PLME but majoring in classics or philosophy not the typical "biochem" or science major...

@ modestmelody, i wish i was going to be in providence on a friday!! i want to be able to put a face to your name :)

leaving in t-minus 62 hours!! (can anyone tell i'm excited?)

I happen to think the physical science tour gives a great overview of academic structure at Brown and the really concrete ways that we focus on undergraduates and I wish that everyone would take the tour.

I can only vouch for Monday and Friday tours for physical science as being absolutely killer-- I'm not familiar with the guides on other days.

Professors really are that accessible. Though honestly, they're so busy you're most likely to walk into them only after sending a quick email the night before.

well i'll be in providence next tuesday night and all day wednesday, april 7th and 8th; i'll be leaving for nyc and other college tours next thursday though..

i think i will take the physical science tour on wednesday; i know i'll love it at Brown so this should just reinforce that amour!! :)

Accessibility of professors is varied. Some professors fill their time up with anything and everything and it's hard to even get a response via e-mail. Others it's pretty easy to get them or talk to them before or after class and it's not big deal. It's not, however, like my previous community college where I could walk into a teachers office after their classes without warning, be greeted with a smile and get 30 min to an hour of relaxed conversation about whatever was interesting that day.

Yeah, I mean, if you don't book time in advance (which in my experience, has never been difficult), you're getting 10-15 mins max with a random walk in before they have to meet with someone else or go somewhere and do something, in my experience. It's not that they're ignoring you or don't want ot talk with you, it's that they have other people and obligations to deal with.
