is AP Calculus really equal to college calculus?

Is AP Calculus really comparable to a college level class? because I am taking AB this year and it is verry verry challenging (not just material, but the way the class runs). I have heard different opinions on this. I would like to enter a higher level of calculus next year as a freshman, but have been warned against this. i just dont want to get behind in math, especially because i will probably be majoring in physics.

It depends on the school. If you go to your local college, then it’ll be similar/easier. If you go to your state flagship/Ivies/top colleges, intro calc will usually have be a tougher class that will require you to think more and understand the material better than AP calc.

That being said, if your class is very tough, then you might be alright for the college level classes. Passing an AP exam, however, does not make you 100% ready for higher level calc classes. Just make sure you understand all the calc 1 concepts well, and you’ll be fine for calc bc/mvc/etc

depends. AP Calc AB covers all the way to application of integration, such as disk method. Calc I at local community college in my area don’t cover differential equations and application of integration. Calc II does, but it also requires students to learn work, not a Calc BC material.
