Hey,
I plan to take AP Computer Science A online through Florida Virtual Schools. I'm pretty good at math/science (Taking IB Math HL, and got a 5 on Physics C: Mechanics and on Calculus AB). The syllabus looks simple enough. What did u think of the class (was it easy, hard, lotta work, etc.) and what did u think of the test?

No, it's not. It only goes over very simple and fundamental concepts that are very easy to comprehend. AB however does include things like Stacks, Trees, etc and gets complicated. The FR for A is also very simple (I remember for one of the six, I wrote something that was like 5 - 6 lines that worked perfectly).

Of course, 42% of those taking the exam "failed" it. If you take the percentages below a 4, then 58% made less than a 4. That's quite a few people who are dead and taking the exam. :p

To answer the original poster, the class is not significantly difficult if you have ever programmed before... If not, I'm certain the course you are taking will make certain you know the fundemental basics of programming in Java.

As a side-note, I would heavily recommend Barron's How to Prepare for the AP Computer Science Exam. Work through the entire book, and you will be well-prepared for the exams.

i got a 2 on the test. i don't like to make excuses but it was the first year of the class and the teacher didn't know anything. i should have used a review book, but i didn't. the transition to java probably accounts for the large percentage of 1s.
