Is around 7,000 per semester a lot of money?

So one of my top universities have gave my financial aid report and it looks like it will be around 14,000 dollars per year for both fall and spring. I will be commuting not forming btw
The tuition is around 30,000 dollars originally so I feel like I did get a lot of money. I’m still looking for scholarships to apply to but I’m still struggling to find some. Is there any websites that you guys know that can be good to look into for scholarships? Thank you

It’s only a lot of money if you can afford to pay the remaining $16000.

I have to say…I seriously doubt you will find $16,000 in additional funding.

Does your financial aid award include the $5500 Direct Loan?

Are your parents contributing anything? How much?

It sounds like you live in NY state. That being the case…costs of tuition at the SUNY schools would be FAR less than $30,000 a year.

If your family income is below $100,000 a year, your tuition would be paid via the excelsior scholarship at a SUNY.

Do you have any of these less expensive options on your list?

Ultimately it comes down to:

How much do you have to pay each year?

How much can you afford to pay each year?

@Jjrobin Did you get any need based aid? Sometimes outside scholarships do not help because they just take away need based aid and you do not gain any ground. A job might be your best bet.

You said in another thread that your parents won’t let you go to a school that doesn’t give you a lot of money. Only they can determine if $14k/year is a lot for your family. Since you’re searching for outside scholarships it sounds like it’s more than your parents want to pay. I don’t think you’re going to find $14k in outside scholarships with a 3.3 GPA and 1050 SAT, and even if you did many schools just reduce their grants by the amount of the outside grants.

Did you get accepted to a SUNY or CUNY? SUNY tuition is ~$6500, and if your parents earn less than $125k the Excelsior grant will pay for that. What type of aid did you get?

What school is charging $30,000 for tuition only? St. john’s? Someplace else on LI?

Did you apply to a SUNY within commuting distance?
