Unluckily, this year I got into AP Bio and got stuck with a teacher who kind of slacks off too much.
We're only done until Chapter 14 and it's already mid year so I decided that I would start self studying for the AP exam in May.

Do you guys think using Barrons alone is sufficient for a 5? Or should I stick to Campbell's (the super thick textbook) and use Barrons as a supplement?

Thanks! :)
Oh and does anybody know the curves for AP Bio? About how much do I need to score to get a 5 on the exam..?

Get Cliffs – much better for AP Bio. Campbell is a great resource if you are interested in the material or don’t understand something in Cliffs. I can imagine though, if you only relied on a review book, you will end up doing too much memorization rather than merely understanding what is going on (a textbook, or a teacher is good for that). While not always in the AP curriculum or on the tests, the extra details in Campbell help solidify your knowledge of the stuff that does come up on the exam.

I forget the exact curves, but you can definitely find info on that if you search around on CC.

Thank you!
I live in a country that’s very hard to find books… so I’m not sure if I can get my hands on a copy of Cliffs…
my teacher is seriously late on schedule. we’ve at the half year mark and only done with 15 chapters… which means there are about 40 chapters left to cover. so i decided to kind of start self studying…
same scenario going on with AP WH for me…
so I’m thinking I should stick to Barron’s but read through Campbell and Reece too… but not take it too seriously…?

You don’t have to cover the whole book. If you look on the College Board site, it will tell you what chapters in Campbell apply. Make sure you’re using a copy of a study guide that is designed for this year’s revised course. Check on Amazon.

I checked Amazon and PR will only be releasing the 2013 version in Jan, Barron’s in Feb… so right now, I guess I can only study and wait for the books to be released.
And yup, I should make sure I cover the more important components listed on College Board’s AP Bio curriculum for this year.
Thank you! :)
