I’m an international student currently studying in Canada who was recently accepted into Berkeley EECS, and I’m wondering if the high tuition and residence fees for international students are worth the experience and education at Berkeley. My parents would be able to support me, but I would also have to work hard to lessen the burden on them. My questions are:
- Does having an EECS degree from Berkeley (as opposed to let's say, University of Waterloo here in Canada) have enough of an advantage to be worth triple the cost of university in Canada?
- How easy/difficult is it to find a decent-paying internship during the summer even as a first-year? What would the salary be like?
- Are there decent scholarships for current students who excel at Berkeley? Is it possible to become an in-state resident?
If any of you have any other tips on how to afford the costs of Berkeley as an international student, that’d be greatly appreciated. Thanks
