Is big jump in SAT score bad?

I'm class of 2006 and I took sat last may without any prep and got around 1800.

So, I was little bit shocked and started studying which brought it up to about 2100 currently.

Is this going to look bad for apps?

Also, I registered for SAT II Korean, and it said I need a CD player. Last time when I took chinese, I used cassette player. I guess things have changed now? Or is that like an error on my admission ticket?? just to make sure. o_O

Oh I'm korean and I'm taking SAT II Korean. Is this a bad idea? [Well along with math and chem]

You only send colleges your best SAT score. So, the higher the better.

They will see the other scores, though. I think a jump like that is fine.

Why on earth would improvement be bad? It shows you work hard and learn well.

Yeah, seriously. Like if you get straight C's freshman year, you better get straight C's until you graduate or else you'll look like a freak.

o_O

Tell me if anyone else sees it my way:
You give your ENTIRE score report to colleges.

Applicant A: took SAT 3 times. varied scores, mix and match to a 2300

Applicant B: took SAT once. Score: 2200

Honestly, I'd rather be applicant B. I wouldn't be a serial test taker, and I'd have a fairly impressive score in one sitting, compared to applicant A who had varied sittings but mixed and matched to a higher score

Yes, but consider the OP:

Applicant A: takes the SAT twice, final score 2100
Applicant B: takes the SAT once, score 1800, doesn't even try to improve

It would be nice if barum87 lived up to his potential the first time, but he can't undo the first test. All he can do is submit the higher one and wait for the answer.

Such improvement should be fine. The only distant downside I see is if CB suspects that you cheated because of the huge score improvement. That happened to a friend of mine and it stressed her out for quite a while (she did eventually get her score). I think you should be fine. As for your SAT II Korean test, I'm not too sure either. I'll be registering for that too, so I guess I'll find out when I do register. I wouldn't be surprised if they asked me to bring a CD player, though.
