Major SAT Score Difference: Good or Bad?

Do colleges look down if they see a major score jump, of about 110 points (from a 2190-2300)? Or do they see this as a positive thing since it shows "determination" "effort" etc?

They use the higher score to admit you, right?

BTW, this is for schools like HYSPM, JHU, etc., since most kids need 2300+ to even be considered "competitive" haha :)
thanks!

That is not true, and quite misinformed. And... your question is a rhetorical question.

I am pretty sure that they consider this a good thing. It means you wanted to improve, and you did! (Congrats on that.)

I think it can only help you.

I think it's obviously a good thing to get a 2300 the second time, but it's not as good as if you'd gotten a 2300 the first try and not bothered taking it again.

It's a good thing. A jump of 110 points isn't that much anyway.

sorry guys, belive me im not boasting or anything, and sorry if you thought that it was a rhetorical question Shifu Yoda, but i just wanted to be sure...

someone i know was recently asked by a univeristy to retake the SAT just to prove that he/she really did get that score because of his/her major score jump...i was just hoping that a jump of 100 points is not "major" enough to be asked for a retake by a college...:/

thanks guys for your advice!

No way. Its undoubtetly good.

lol even with a 2300, just don't bother retaking it and start looking at the local community colleges. u need at least a 2500 for them to even think about considering about u. and yeah a major score difference is bad! they're looking for score differences within 50 points or less...so if you should try to score 2240 or below
