is bioengineering aka biomedical engineering good for pre med?

For college what if i decided to major in bioengineering/biomedical engineering instead of a typical Biology/Chemistry major. As long as I fulfill the requirements (prerequisites) to get in to school will this be a good decision?

It is a decision. If you are doing it for the right reasons it can be a good decision.

If you’re set on med school, no. You’re GPA will almost definitely be lower than a bio major, and that along with MCATs and clinical experience is all that matters for med school.

However, if you’re looking into it as “maybe I’ll consider med school but if not I’d like to be an engineer” than go for it. But just because “bio” and “medical” is in it doesn’t mean it will necessarily prep you for med school or get you into med school or anything.
