other top choices: swat, wellesley…yep, reaches TOO.

I think your chances are better at Bryn Mawr than Swat but there's such variability in admissions that it's hard to say beyond, "You have a chance." I would definitely try to get that Math Ic up. This year and the next 3-4 years are horrible years to be borderline due to demographics: more seniors graduating every year, peaking somewhere between 2008 and 2010, depending on who you choose to believe.

However, I have an extremely strong recommendation to make: synthesize your EC's so they don't look like a blah laundry list. Looking at your presentation, you can't tell where the passion (if any) and emphasis of time/weight of interest (if any) is. If I were on an adcom, I'd tune out and think "Nothing exceptional."

well, i don't think i CAN get the IC up unless i take it in jan and maybe rush scores? my passion is writing/journalism so i took out the years etc but it's obvious where my interests lie w/ them in.

ack, this is bad news. i don't think i have any safeties. is boston univ or nyu a match? my school doesn't rank, but i know my rank.

Toffee, presentation can be helpful. Group your EC's with sub-heads and list activities within as most important first...do you think burying your Mosaic Journalism workshop at the end of the list helps you? I don't. Especially coming after all the non-writing items.

And then there is absolutely no weight/discrimination made between your psych internship, Studio 10 Dance, Fong Art Studio....

Bottom line: this is a very common kind of presentation on CC but it is NOT effective.

As to your question, both NYU and BU should be matchish, with better than average odds of getting in, but given how admissions run, you could still not be admitted to either. You really should have a Safety. In absence of a Safety, you should add five Matches. A couple of years ago, there was a CC student who was turned down by 12 schools. All reasonable shots for her...but none came through. Another student on the board this year is looking to transfer, applied out of high school to 12 schools and got into only two...she went to the better of the two and isn't happy there, a lousy "fit" from what she's written.

I already have them grouped and subheaded on my resume. Writing is definitely at the very top, don't worry. Thanks for the input.

I guess I didn't have a good idea of safeties. What would you think is a good safety for someone with my statistics? I don't think I have any safeties if not for BU.
