So I got into TCNJ finance and was very content with that but after visiting a few finance offices i’m starting to think that its not something I want to wake up and do every day. I’m asking about business management because I am considering switching to this major instead. I’ll be joining ROTC which means in four years if everything goes to plans i’ll be an active duty second lieutenant. I am looking for the major that would put me in the best place to compete for a good job once I am done with my four years service to the military. Class work load isn’t really an issue, I understand finance would be tougher but I could handle it. If I went the management route i’d probably get a second major such as Computer Science. Thanks for any help, I only have 6 months before my choice is set in stone.
personally I have found finance is the way to go. Finance majors can always end up as managers its not as easy the other way. Further, you can always go for a graduate degree in management if you wish to diversify. But you can be successful either way.
Finance is usually seen as a more serious and rigorous major. For one reason it will require more quantitative courses. It will probably open up more doors than a bus mgt degree.
If you don’t like finance, computer science would be a good major. I don’t think that a business management major will get you very far but it that is a second major or even a minor that is fine.
