Incoming CS Freshman looking to buying a laptop.
am trying to find if it is worthwhile to buy from Cav Computers.
Is their 4-year warranty worth it? How is their service?
My S just graduated a week ago from SEAS. He bought his laptop from Cav Computers and had the 4 year warranty. Had problem with his laptop once during the 4 years. He got a loaner from Cav Computer and it was fixed in less than a week. Everything was fine.
If you bring your high school laptop to college as a backup, there will be less need to pay CAV’s prices to have them be ready to provide a loaner if needed.
@Charliesch what a great idea! My kids were low income so they didn’t have a laptop prior to the ones they got for college.
We used Cav Computers for peace of mind. No problems so far so I can’t comment on their service but it is right at the bookstore and covenient. My friend’s daughter cracked her laptop screen and had to pay $750 out of pocket to fix the mac she brought from home. That helped me decide to pay the extra $$ for it. Also, last year when Apple was offering free headphones with mac purchase, we got that benefit from Cav Computers.
