I'm at a major crossroads in my college life and would REALLY APPRECIATE any help:

I am a sophomore who up till now was an environmental science (ES) major. Starting this Fall, I will be taking an intro engineering course because I feel ES is too much theory and politics and not enough application and innovation.

I want to be able to actually help fix the pollution and diseases that stem from unsanitary water and lack of sewage systems, especially in India and Sub-saharan Africa. In fact, one of my dreams in life is to go to small rural villages in 3rd world countries and build water purification systems and roads/bridges that enable the villagers to commute and trade with the bigger cities. (Much like Engineers without Borders!)

Of course, I also have an interest in designing buildings (more by hand rather than computer). This seems to fit in more with Architecture, but I have an uncle with does construction management and he says any type of creativity would bode well in Engineering.

The only minor setback is that I am not great at math...I can study hard and learn if I really apply myself, and that's what I hope to do. I've heard that an actual job doesn't involve too much complicated math though.
Also, I did basically waste one year in ES classes, so it's going to take me a bit longer to get my engineering degree. Tuition isn't too much of a worry though because I'm at a state college. So Should I go for it? Any advice would be much appreciated! THANK YOU!
