Is class rank actually considered with GPA?

<p>I go to a competitive public high school and am in the top 4% of my class but my GPA is 3.76. Would it look better if someone had like a 3.9 but were in the top 20%? The teachers at my school make their courses pretty difficult and I've known a lot of people who left to go to easier schools and get their GPA up :l Btw, class rank at my school takes into account weighted GPA and if how many APs you took.</p>

<p>I can’t speak for large public schools, but other colleges look at you within the context of YOUR school. So your GPA would be considered very, very good.</p>

<p>Some schools weight GPA more than rank, while others weight rank more than GPA.</p>

<p>But if you go to an easy school that gives out A’s to everyone wouldn’t that undermine other students’ efforts who went to difficult schools?</p>
