is this a really big school compared to like unc chapel hill, penn state, size school or much smaller. what is the average class room size and fresh, soph, junior, senior, size of each class

Clemson - 16,562 undergraduates
UNC Chapel Hill - 18,503 undergraduates
Penn State - 39,192 undergraduates

To get the average size of freshman/sophomore/junior/senior classes, take those numbers and divide by 4.

Source: Google

Classroom sizes can vary greatly depending on major and subject. For instance, my son’s freshman English class size is about 11 kids. However his Calculus class is about 40 kids.

Official Clemson class size stats (for undergraduates)

Size:
2-9 - 407
10-19 - 886
20-29 - 345
30-39 - 317
40-49 - 221
50-99 - 246
100+ - 108

The 50+ classes will be general education classes or common classes many majors have to take. Once you get into your major classes, you’ll find most classes are 20-30 people.

It really depends on your major. In engineering, my classes are mostly lectures where there’s no real benefit of having a small class since you mostly just listen to your professor and a bunch of people won’t ask questions in class either way. Classes are a little bigger with 40-50 people in some sections but that’s because civil engineering is one of the largest majors on campus (again, I haven’t found any difference between a 25 person lecture and a 60 person lecture). In liberal arts classes, most of them appear to be small from what I’ve heard which makes sense because there’s a lot more discussion that goes on there.
