I've been reading several threads regarding the comparison between Indian and American universities.
I am a US citizen, but I finished my middle school and high school education in India.
If American and Indian universities are not that far off in terms of education, which i assume is the common belief among college grads (?), what is the point of paying more than 40,000 dollars a year for undergrad education in the US?
Current undergrads, is it really that amazing in the US?
I have no interest in becoming an engineer or a doctor. In fact, I'm not exactly sure what I want to do with my life at this point. I'm passionate about biology and psychology but I'd like to explore my options.
Do you think it'd be better for me if I just get a degree in Biology from some university in India? It would be cheaper.. :

Yes, it is worth 40,000 dollars or more a year if you or your parents can pay without too much hardship. You will get plenty of opportunities to explore and discover your interests.

Study in India and use the savings for grad school

Attending a reputable college in the USA is worth the 40,000 $/yr. Plus you say that you really don’t know what you want to do. Colleges in the USA provide you with the liberty to pick and choose what you want to study. Colleges in India do not allow that.

Jobs in the USA are also higher paying. So if money is a problem, you could work after undergrad and pay off your debts. Furthermore, since you are an US Citizen - you shouldn’t have much trouble landing a job provided you do well in college.

It is worth the money if you can afford it without a significant drop in your family’s standard of living.

$40000/yr is for private universities. At public universities, you can get scholarships and your fees can get as low as $6000/yr.
