I am a senior. I just moved to the US. I joined the robotics club yesterday and really liked it. I will be attending my first DECA meeting on Wednesday (4 days away). My AP econ teacher told me to attend the meeting with him and decide if I like it. What I hear is it is really fun. But will it be too much for one year? I didn’t have all these opportunities in my old school, so I just want to make the best of it. The robotics club is competing in the FIRST and BEST competitions too. I am taking just 3 AP classes this year and will have Macro next semester.
Two activities would be fine for many kids. But of course it is dependent on how you handle the rigor of your classes, how time intensive each activity is etc. These EC activities could also provide a nice way for you to make friends in a new school. I would try doing both and if it is too much you can always cut back.
Sounds like a good mix to me. If it becomes too much and you begin to struggle with grades or college applications, you can likely drop something for the fall & resume it in the spring. Good luck with everything!
