Hey guys. i just took the SAT first time in June 2011 and gotta 1880. My CR is 530 M-660 W-690. I already know how to improve on my CR since i barely practiced for it and im sure i can bring it up 100 points, but for math i heard dr john chungs is the best book if you're in the 650-680 range and looking to get 700+ on the math section. Please give me your opinions on this book. Thanks in advance.

It’s a good book for 660+ students. We already know how to do moderately difficult algebra/geometry/number theory etc… we just need tips and tricks for the level 5 questions. Now, the book is good for supplying you with these questions and giving DECENT solutions, but some of those solutions are vague.

If you have 30 bucks to spend i would get it. It should bring you up to a 700+ if you use it correctly.

alright thanks alot im gonna order it tomrrow

Hey i got the book i wanna know, are the 20 tests in the book based on the 50 tips. Do the questions in the tests help revise the tips u learn?

^ The 20 practice tests ARE based on the 50 tips. Most of the SAT questions on the real test are based on the 50 tips.

However, I recommend buying it, but watch out. The explanations are vague. They skip parts expecting you to know it. So unless you are a high scorer, you will have trouble with this book.

The real SAT math looks like a girl compared to Dr Chung SAT Math book.

@nothingto are you implying that all girls are easy?

^lolololol :D.

I’m scoring around 600’s-650’s in math, should I get chungs? Will it help at all

^You should probably brush up your skills with another prep book before moving on to Chungs, maybe BB (If you havent studied much and just need refreshing) or Grubers (If you really need to study). You should get consistently over 650 before moving onto Dr. Chung’s.

Alright thanks…what were ur guys score increase after using dr chungs

Where is the cheapest place to buy this? I can’t find it in any of my libraries and I really don’t feel like shelling out another 30 bucks after I just spent 70 bucks on other prep books. The price of learning, man.

30 bucks is the only price for it

You might be able to find a used or almost new copy on ebay for a little cheaper but I wouldnt fully trust anything coming from there.

You can see a lot of the tips in Amazon’s preview of the book

I suggest you do. You’re probably getting the last few wrong, which is what the book helps with. The rest you get wrong are probably lower level questions that are probably careless mistakes often too. I suggest you might as well go for it.

Although, to the OP, I find a lot of Chung’s tips kinda cloudy without proper explanations. It really assumes you know every tidbit of math and just need to be shown what SAT concepts will be tested. The material’s A-1, but the explanations suck.
Cover’s nice and glossy with good quality pages in comparison to most SAT prep books. If that matters to you.

^ just saying I HATE the cover/binding. Its impossible to keep the book open without frekin bending it all the way.

Sent from my SPH-M910 using CC App

I’d say to get the book, try it out. If its a bit too hard for you at first, go back to the blue book for a little while, then try Chung’s again.

^^ @Katrina0

I know right lol. I had to keep folding it to keep it open, and the back of the book looks uneven (the paper-back) as if it was cut short by a scissor.

Also, the tips aren’t effective without practicing them on practice tests, so using the Amazon preview isn’t going to help much.

If I’m constantly missing 0-3 problems in math, is a quick run of this book enough to secure 800’s for the future or is there a better method?

Is it worth $30 to you? Are the questions you always get wrong because of stupid mistakes or is it because of stuff you genuinely don’t know? If its the latter go for Dr. Chung’s, if not, read the questions more carefully.
